FASHiON HEiR – BTS Video

FASHiON HEiR is a promotional company with a large experience in fashion photography and marketing. Here is a quick look behind the scenes from one of there many photo shoots.

So lately I’ve been meeting some awesome people doing great creative work around perth and have had the opportunity to work along side some cool people. Luo Qi from FASHiON HEiR is a talented fashion photographer from perth and puts together some great shoots with his team. Brodie Butler another great photographer and HDSLR enthusiast like myself. Brodie shot all the footage on his 5D MKII mostly with a glidecam 4000HD and then passed it on to me for the edit. I’m pretty happy with the results though I feel I could of tightened up some of the shots towards the end. As with most creative projects deadlines get the better of us. If I didn’t have several more edits to get done I would like to fine tune it all but I’m still really happy with it. It was a pretty cut and dry edit synced to music no post production apart from the colour grade, which just quietly I think looks great. Really enjoyed putting in the warm tone and feeling.

Rottnest Diving May 2011

Spent a day at Rottnest diving and brought some cameras along with me.

Shot with 7D, 550D and all underwater shots were done with GoPro Hero HD.

Canon 7D

7D Test Footage from Luke Brooks on Vimeo.

If your a tech geek like me, then you would of heard of all the buzz about canon’s new DSLR that just got released a month ago. It is capable of shooting 18mega pixel photos but more impressive is its HD video mode. You can film full HD 1080p and 720p. I just managed to get one of these lovely camera’s and it hasn’t left my side since. This is my first little test video and the quality and DOF (Depth of Field) is just amazing. I used the stock 18 – 135mm lens. Its not the best lens but it is still usable. I edited in After Effects and colour corrected the video as well as added bit of motion tracking just for fun.

New look and more stuff

I know I havn’t been posting much lately as I’ve been busy working on several personal projects and applying for jobs. I’m in the process of building a new portfolio webpage and adding new projects to my folio. This will all take some time and in the end everyone but mainly me will be better off because of it!

In the mean time here are some photos I took using the same process as my video “water colour”.

Light Art Performance Photography

Astonishing LED, Laser, and Light Photography from Hack N Mod on Vimeo.

If you’ve ever attemped long exposure photography or “light writing” in any way shape or form, then you’ll understand how truly dedicated these people are to the art form. Check out the video and there website for more stunning photos.

We’ve seen some projects featuring how to draw with light using your camera’s exposure settings, but nothing compares to this.  This group goes by the name of Light Art Performance Photography and they use lasers, LEDs, illuminated body suits, sparklers and just about anything else which emits light to construct these incredible works of art.  We’ve compiled the video above to feature their work and the high-res version is worth watching as well.

Oil in a glass shot with a canon 450D DSLR

A test video of oil poured into a glass, shot on a canon 450D DSLR using EOS Camera Movie Recorder. You can see me adjusting the focus at the start of the video. The sharpness is really good for a DSLR that isn’t ment for shooting video! This is made possible through exploiting live view on the video camera. The software (link below) captures every frame from live view through usb from the camera stright to your computer at 848 x 560. This resolution is pretty good for a video camera that lets you change lenes and have complete control over iso and aperture.

Software can be found here: valexvir.narod.ru

A few quick iphone photos of the setup I used.

New Canon EOS Digital Rebal T1i (500D) Coming Soon!

canon500dThe new Canon EOS Digital Rebal T1i (as its known in America, or in Australia the 500D) will be coming soon, it should included 15.1 megapixels, 3 inch screen and 1080p HD video recording as well as a HDMI out to get all the glory on a HD TV. But the worst part is I just invested in an Canon EOS 450D about a month ago which is going strong and is a lovely camera but to be able to have all the glory of HD video and a HDMI output makes me rather jealous. I hope it’s not too soon for an upgrade.
